Fly Fishing in Patagonia

Join us in PATAGONIA on a fly fishing adventure of a lifetime to the great Patagonia region of Southern Chile.

Patagonia, the southern one-third of Chile and Argentina, is giant in size and remains largely uninhabited and unexplored.

The ancestors of today's Rainbow and Brown trout, introduced as sport fish into Patagonia at the beginning of the 20th century, have spread profusely throughout the water systems.

As a result, Chile’s countless rivers and lakes now teem with the most beautiful and aggressive trout on earth – and they have never seen an artificial fly!

We fish eight rivers and five lakes, catching browns, rainbows and a native fish called a perca trucha.

There are rare places on earth left where you can say that you are one of a very privileged few who have ever experienced that area. Much less say you had a chance to fish its rivers, lakes and streams that have rarely, if ever, been fished before.

The fishing in our area is what it would have been like fishing in Montana, Idaho or Wyoming a hundred years ago -- a totally unspoilt and untamed frontier and teeming with wild fish.

We own over 10,000 acres and much of our fishing is on private property with exclusive access.

We fish eight rivers and five lakes, catching browns, rainbows and a native fish called a perca trucha.

The fishing season begins in November and ends April 15th.

The fishing season begins in November and ends April 15th. December, January and February are the high summer months in south America.

It does snow in southern Chile, but because the elevation is much lower it is not nearly as cold and the snow does not stay on the ground long – meaning there’s no snow run-offs to spoil the fishing.

Most of the good insect hatches occur during the months of December, January and February making for great dry fly fishing during those months.

Average fish range from 12 to 20 inches

Average fish range from 12 to 20 inches with frequent specimens up to 30 inches. Most of our fishing is done with dry flies, but there is great streamer and nymph fishing as well.

There are excellent may fly, caddis and stone fly hatches on most of the rivers. And attractor dry fly fishing is excellent during the Chilean summer.

March also offers excellent fishing. There are still a few hatches and the rivers are low and clear. And in late March/April big browns move from the lakes into the streams and become available to the fly fisherman. Most locals claim April as their favorite month.
